Grief counseling for the BIPOC (Black Indigenous people of Color) community is a sensitive and crucial service that addresses the unique cultural, historical and systemic challenges faced by BIPOC. For this population, grief may not only stem from personal losses, such as the death of a loved one, but also from collective and generational trauma, including racism, discrimination, and historical oppression. Losing a loved one may feel isolating, especialy if their relationship was not fully accepted or recognized by fammily, friends, or society. This isolation may also extend to situations where they are not allowed to fully participate in rituals like funerals or memorials.
Our goal is to provide culturally sensitive grief counseling services and establish support groups that address the emotional, mental, and spiritual needs of individuals experiencing grief due to personal loss, systemic trauma, and marginalization.
The program will help participants process their grief, build resilience, and prevent long-term mental health issues such as depression and anxiety.
